Most grassroot animal organizations are spread thin just addressing the day-to-day issues associated with their cause. It is difficult to take on larger projects like legal cases or communication campaigns when there is little time and even less money. What makes this particularly frustrating for those working on behalf of animals is that their opposition often does have the resources and is more than willing to use them to maintain their current practices. Four Feet Forward was created to level the playing field for animal advocates by offering pro bono legal and communication assistance from experts in the field.

The Board of FFF and our supporters seek out professionals in the areas of law and communication who would like to offer their services to groups working on animal issues which they also believe in. We maintain a database of these professionals and match them with organizations who seek the help of FFF. Typically matches are made based on region, set of expertise and desired outcome by the animal organization. Once a match is made both the client and the consultant can access FFF to report on satisfaction with the project as well as to ask for any additional resources that might be needed.

Legal Services

For animal organizations who either wish to pursue a case or, in some situations, are defendants in a case, FFF has a growing list of lawyers from various parts of the country who are available to help. These lawyers have agreed to conduct legal research, offer legal counsel in the preparation of suits and represent animal organizations in courts of law. Our lawyers can also assist animal organizations with their transactional legal needs such as forming tax-exempt organizations and advice on federal and state tax issues.

Communication Services

For animal organizations who would like to develop more effective communication, FFF has a list of communication professionals who are eager to help. Our services include lobbying advice, community organizing strategy, logo and website design, audience analysis and material editing for a persuasive edge.

Accounting Services
For animal organizations who need advice with setting up an accounting system, analyzing financial statements and other indicators of financial health, and choosing the best practices and software for payroll, ledgers and capital accounting, FFF has a network of professional accountants who can be of assistance.
